When will County Square be done?

What’s that sound? Oh, it’s the ongoing construction at County Square, where work on the $1 billion redevelopment is well underway.

We spoke with the developers from RocaPoint Partners at the Project Preview Meeting on Tuesday, April 22, and — for the first time — they walked us through when you’ll start to see the buildings completed.

Project timeline

2-3 years | The light blue buildings are multi-family apartments with retail on the ground level. These will be built first and are expected to open in ~2.5 years.

3-5 years | The orange buildings are all retail, and developers say they plan to build out from the two initial buildings.

5-10 years | Look closely. Around the development, you’ll see “penciled in” buildings, which are mostly multi-family with some single-family townhomes. However, developers tell us those plans could change depending on the demand and needs of the site after the first two phases open.

I’m a sucker for fun ballpark food served in a baseball helmet, and though Fifth Third Park in Spartanburg has your standard soft serve ice cream in a helmet, the barbecue nachos are the true showstopper. If you feel like you simply need to get a burger at the Spartanburgers game, I don’t blame you. Just make sure you hit up the epic Burger Topping Bar with 100+ topping options — including Apple Jacks?
