🍕 Social media for foodies

This photo captures a vibrant and inviting dining setup. In the foreground, a wood-fired pepperoni pizza sits on a stand, slightly out of focus. To the right, there’s a colorful salad in a bowl, featuring fresh greens, cherry tomatoes, pine nuts, pickled onions, mozzarella, and pesto. A fork is resting in the salad bowl.

On the table next to the salad, there’s a smartphone displaying the word "beli" on its screen, suggesting it might be related to a dining or food app. A glass of water and a small carafe of red-colored drink (possibly a juice or cocktail) complete the scene. The table's warm wooden tones and a brick wall in the background add a cozy, rustic feel.

Imagine connecting with your friends on social media, but it’s all about food and where you’re eating. There’s an app for that. Meet Beli, a way to:
  • Log your culinary adventures
  • Rate your favorite spots
  • Create personalized restaurant lists
  • Follow your foodie friends
Like other social media apps, Beli allows you to set goals (think: your reading goal on Goodreads) + gives you a recap at the end of the year (think: your Spotify Wrapped).

Rather than scoring yourself, Beli compares your experiences to assign scores.

City Editor Danielle here. I discovered Beli while traveling last year, eating my way through New York City. After ranking my bites along the trip, it didn’t take long for me to add all of my favorite Greenville spots to my lists.

Plus, I’ve set a goal for the new year: 25 new restaurants in 2025.

Asked

Opening

A coffee shop boom

This photo shows a cozy and modern café interior. A hand in the foreground is holding an iced coffee in a clear plastic cup with a lid and straw. The background features a seating area with white chairs, soft-toned furniture, and large windows letting in natural light. The décor includes potted plants, a patterned rug, a glass-top coffee table, and wall art. Outside, it appears to be a rainy day, adding to the cozy ambiance.

If you feel like we’ve been updating our coffee City Guide a lot, it’s because we are. There has been a burst of cafe openings, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down.

We’ve added three more spots to the list, including Canvas Coffee + Art House, which opens on Stone Avenue this Saturday, Jan. 11. To celebrate, Daylight Burrito will be rolling its fan-favorite breakfast burritos + Blue Ridge Bakeshop and Sunrise Bakes (gluten-free) will serve baked goods.

Described as “a place where coffee and art collide,” this is the perfect spot to sip on latte art as you admire the work of local artists surrounding you.

The Wrap

I have a rescued Alaskan Malamute that has never seen the snow, so I am wearing my pajamas inside out, flushing ice cubes down the toilet, putting an orange in the freezer, and sticking a spoon under my pillow. Here are a few more snow superstitions if you’d like to support the cause.
