Nine bridges — including the South Hudson Street bridge near Unity Park — across the Upstate will remain closed until 2025 due to Helene damage. According to the South Carolina Department of Transportation, these bridges were “damaged beyond repair” and need to be totally replaced. (The Post and Courier Greenville)

We’re seeing greens. According to voting results from Zippia, South Carolina’s favorite Thanksgiving side is collard greens. The overall favorite dish in the US is mashed potatoes, followed closely by rolls. More savory stats here. (Greenville News)

We’re Gratefull for GVL

Gratefull GVL — a free, city-wide community lunch — happened yesterday, Nov. 23. This reel speaks for itself, but let’s take a closer look at the event by the numbers.
~5,000. That’s how many people the Gratefull GVL team expected to feed this year, which is up from the 3,000+ people who got a hot meal at the inaugural event in 2019.
200+. That’s how many volunteers helped make this event happen.
Co-Chair of Gratefull GVL Mary Beth Cross told us, “I think, in short, Gratefull GVL is an amazing display of what it’s like to live in Greenville. It’s a celebration of diversity and inclusion, it’s a coming together on the Main Street Bridge to share a meal and a conversation.”
An electric salt and pepper grinder set that’s 20% off for early Black Friday. Snag one for just over $20 for yourself or as a holiday gift for your chef-iest friend.
Gratefull GVL was a truly magical experience and I’m so happy that I got to attend this year. Greenville is unlike any other city I’ve visited, and I am honored to be a Greenvillian. As if I needed another reason to love this city.
