Did we just become best friends? | Photo by a very sweet server at Brick Street
“Thank you for the theatre coverage! Great to have it all in one place! Great job!”
“What a WIDE variety of info! Something for everyone! Y’all are SMOKIN’!!! Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!”
“Today’s edition was particularly enjoyable and informative! Great job!”
These are just a few emails from one of GVLtoday’s readers, Lara Wheless. When we see her name pop up in our inbox, we know it’s going to be a good day.
City Editor Stephanie here. I invited Lara to Brick Street Cafe (her first time, by the way. We did get the sweet potato cake.) to chat and learn more about her after one of our coworkers at 6AM City — GVLtoday’s parent company — recognized Lara’s name from her IMDB page. As it turns out, Lara is a bit of an undercover celebrity and did voiceover work on video games like “Star Trek: Birth of the Federation” and “MechWarrior 3.”
Having lunch with Lara was as wholesome as you’d think it would be. I blocked off my calendar for an hour, but we ended up chatting for three. Lara moved to Greenville several years ago and has fallen in love with our city. She enjoys taking care of her kitties + bird watching, and was incredibly excited for Whataburger. We got an email from her saying she went on opening day and the line was wrapped around the building.
As I was fan-girling over Lara, she was fan-girling about me and City Editor Danielle. “I don’t know how the two of you do it all,” she told me. “It makes me respect GVLtoday even more.” And they say you should never meet your heroes. Lara, GVLtoday loves you.

I just got back from a trip to Los Angeles to visit my best friend from college. I flew with Breeze Airways for the first time (thanks for that non-stop trip, GSP), and it was thoroughly enjoyable. I plan to fly Breeze as often as I can.
