The eighth annual Iron Caterer Throwdown (ICT) — a local, “Chopped"-esque cooking competition — is back on Thursday, Aug. 1 at The 405 Venue.
In this contest presented by Social Latitude Four local chefs face-off and create three different dishes with three secret ingredients. They only have 20 minutes to concoct their culinary creations. Did we mention they’re doing this live in front of you?
Each of the chefs will have the chance to win one of these awards, chosen by attendees:
Best Presentation
Most Creative
Best Taste
Most Entertaining
Bonus: For the first time this year, there will be a special Judges Award
The chef with the highest overall score will be named the Iron Caterer 2024.

What comes with my ticket?
Tickets are on sale now and come with tastes of all 12 dishes, complimentary drinks, and voting rights. Pro tip: There are also VIP tickets available.
In addition to leaving with a full belly, you’ll also leave with a full heart. Each year, producers of ICT chose a local non-profit to give a portion of ticket sales + silent auction proceeds to. This year, they’ve chosen AMI Kids White Pines, which teaches disadvantaged youth trades they can use in their lives and future careers.

Think Duke’s Mayonnaise and summer-ripe tomatoes go together like peanut butter and jelly? Then grab your calendars and add Duke’s Hot Tomato Summer, returning to Greenville Thursday, July 18-Sunday, July 28.
What is Duke’s Hot Tomato Summer?
This annual event is a weeklong celebration that showcases local restaurants’ creative dishes featuring, you guessed it, fresh tomatoes and Duke’s Mayonnaise.
Duke’s Hot Tomato Summer got its start in Richmond, VA three years ago and was hosted in Greenville — aka the birthplace of that spreadable goodness — for the first time last July. Duke’s partnered with 13 local restaurants, including Northgate Soda Shop and The Bohemian Cafe, which featured specialty dishes like a BLT and tomato pie.
How can I participate?
Check out this participating list of restaurants and get ready to eat the summer classic. You’ll be full from your head, to your toma-toes.
For those of you who don’t know, I love Local Cue. In fact, I had my 25th and 30th birthday parties there. It’s a great place to hang out, with or without alcohol. You can find me there chowing down build-your-own macaroni and cheese + playing one of its many board games.
