Local nonprofit KIND of the Upstate was recently featured on the Today Show highlighting its work at Greenville Textile Heritage Park and, partially because of that appearance, was awarded a $45,000 check from the Johnsonville sausage company. We think that’s KIND of a big deal. (Greenville Journal)
Concert
We’ve got the blues in the best way possible. Bon Secours Wellness Arena announced the return of The Blues Is Alright Tour on Saturday, Oct. 12 for the 7th annual Greenville Blues Festival. If you go to the website to buy tickets and it’s not working, don’t panic: The site is down for maintenance and you can visit Ticketmaster in the meantime.

Roll up to your next barbecue with a side dish that everyone will be talking about. This jalapeno mac and cheese with corn and tomato salad is a classic with a kick, featuring fresh and seasonal ingredients.*
Pro Tip
Blinds help control your home’s temperature + maintain privacy, but they also collect dust and grime. Vacuum closed blinds with an upholstery brush, then open them and vacuum the underside. For a deeper clean, wipe each blade with a microfiber cloth, or call Two Maids of Greenville at 864-626-3343.*
Arts

The annual SC New Play Festival takes the Greenville stage from Thursday, Aug. 8 to Sunday, Aug. 11. The cast list for these new works just dropped, and we’re shining a spotlight on the actors.
The actors
Phillip Boykin | Broadway: “Hadestown,” “The Music Man,” “Once on this Island,” “Sunday in the Park with George,” and “Porgy and Bess.” He’s also performing in the cabaret on Sunday.
I had the pleasure of working with Mimi Wyche during a few shows at the Warehouse Theatre several years ago, and I have a signed photo of her in her full “CATS” costume hanging in my office. I’ll show it to you if you really want.
