Our latest installment of Invest Local — a series in which we’re shining a light on ways Greenvillians can invest their time, talent, and treasure, locally — showcases Compo Hotels.
Currently operating at The Station, located at 745 Old Buncombe Rd., the ~6.5-acre property sits in the heart of Travelers Rest, adjacent to the bustling Swamp Rabbit Trail.
The “proof of concept”
The Station opened the Wedge Cottages in 2022 as a “proof of concept.” This soft launch has allowed The Station the opportunity to refine operations, establish community partnerships, and create strategic marketing plans that focus on long-term development goals.
The property currently features eight comfortable and thoughtfully-designed wedge cottages, along with patios and a courtyard for gathering with fellow adventure seekers.

The name — which was unveiled Saturday, May 11 — was inspired by a Spartanburg staple, The Beacon Drive-in, saying, “you can’t beat a classic.” Spartanburg’s last team — a collegiate summer baseball team in the Coastal Plain League — was also called The Spartanburgers. We’re sensing a delicious theme here.
The new logo features a very happy hamburger wearing a conductor’s hat + featured colors like lettuce green, ketchup red, and mustard yellow.

Greenville, I love the Fair at Heritage Park. When I was in college, I had a job freshman through half of senior year where I had to work every weekend. Want to know how I spent my first Saturday off after I left that job? At the fair. Here’s proof. And yes, baby Stephanie did end up marrying baby Dallas from the photos.
