New plan, who’s this? The Haynie-Sirrine neighborhood master plan is being updated by City of Greenville staff based in part from input from community comments and feedback. It should be complete by this summer.
What can we expect to see in the updated plan?
A roadway connection between Dunbar + Thruston Streets
An update to the intersection at Haynie + Howie Streets to help with traffic flow
A mixed-use development (potentially adding affordable housing) along Church + Augusta Streets
Protection and preservation efforts for existing housing
Ideas for acquiring land that can be transformed into green space or affordable housing
Improvements to transportation and infrastructure like a multi-use path that would connect both sides of Church Street
Haynie-Sirrine by the numbers
1,456. That’s how many residents there were in the neighborhood in 2022, jumping up by almost 500 people since 2012.
33.1. That’s the median age of residents who live in Haynie-Sirrine.
$79,260. That’s the median income of residents who currently live in Haynie-Sirrine. For comparison, the median income in 2012 was $16,321.
When can we see the new plans?
The updated draft of the plan should be complete by June and the City of Greenville plans to share the updated draft before July 4.
After that, the city’s Planning Commission will review the changes in August, and City Council will review them by September.
