The City of Spartanburg’s Design Review Board approved plans for Fifth Third Park, the city’s $58.6 million baseball stadium.

Approval was given with an agreement from Johnson Development Associates to upgrade the streetscape near the AC Hotel downtown.

Here are some fast facts:
  • This project is the biggest investment in Spartanburg’s history.
  • The stadium will have ~3,500 seats.
  • This will be home to the Down East Wood Ducks, a minor league affiliate of the Texas Rangers.
  • The stadium will be built on 14.5 acres of land at West Henry Street + South Daniel Morgan Avenue.
In addition to the stadium, the project includes:
  • 375 apartments
  • A 150-room hotel
  • Office + commercial space
  • A public plaza
  • Parking for ~1,500 vehicles
The first pitch is scheduled to take place on March 7, 2025, so Sparkle City residents should start getting ready to root for their home team.

From the editor
I had the best time at euphoria’s pre-festival dinner last night. Beyond The Hospitality featured James Beard Award-winning guest Chef Chris Shepherd at Jianna. If you missed this dinner, you don’t want to miss the upcoming Spring Fest events. See what tables still have seats available before they all sell out.

You loved GVL Connections, so I brought it back for round two. Did you get all four groups?
