Hey Greenville, Stephanie + Danielle here. Between the two of us, we get the privilege of sharing the news with 198,060 readers daily — both through our newsletter + on social media.
We thought we should formally introduce ourselves. Consider this us going in for a fist bump, then switching to a handshake, then settling on a hug.
👻 Meet Stephanie
Q. Describe Greenville’s personality in three words. A.Sheesh, only three? Okay I would say, “dynamic, friendly, and tasty.”
Q. If Greenville had one-specific dish, what would it be? A. It would be a beautiful fusion of Soby’s shrimp and grits in a Stecca bread bowl (which doesn’t yet exist...just throwing that out there) from the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery.
🪩 Meet Danielle
Q. Other than yourself, who would you consider to be the local expert about Greenville? A. A three-parter:
Ava Braatz‘s Instagram bio is “Greenville’s hype girl” and I think it perfectly describes her.
GVLgroupies aka Canon Mikes is a full-time teacher who is very plugged in to Greenville’s food scene and is a rising star.
Ryan Johnston, our CEO at 6AM City, is always hitting me with Greenville facts I didn’t know.
Q. Fill in the blank: The coolest person I’ve met in Greenville is ___________. A. I truly cannot pick just one:
Interviewing Carl Sobocinski is a highlight for me. He’s done so much for our city.
On the celebrity-front, I met Tyler Florence when he was in town for euphoria 2022. He confirmed he uses Duke’s Mayo, so we know he’s still a Greenvillian.
Is there something you’ve always wanted to ask us? Whether it’s “What’s your favorite color?” (Danielle’s is green) or “What do you do for fun?” (Stephanie refs sand volleyball), this is your chance to get to know your City Editors.

Correction
It’s fast, but it’s not that fast. The proposed high-speed train would take 2:06 hours if an electric train is used + 2:44 if diesel is used, not minutes.

Brooks is also a proud Governor’s School alumnae. | Photo by Danielle Brooks via Instagram
The actress is nominated for “Best Supporting Actress, Motion Picture” for her work as Sofia “The Color Purple,” which hits theaters Christmas Day.
Fun fact: Brooks earned a Tony nomination for the same role in 2015 when she made her Broadway debut as Sofia in “The Color Purple” revival. She also won a Grammy for “Best Musical Theatre Album.” No big deal.
Brooks is best known for playing Tasha “Taystee” Jefferson in “Orange is the New Black.”
The Buy
The Buy 12.12.23 (Affiliate + Six & Main)
The go-to gift for people who have everything: a scented candle.
My husband and I were discussing movies and we asked each other which movie had the biggest impact on us. I said, without hesitation, “The Color Purple.” I also highly recommend the novel by Alice Walker.
