The grant program by the numbers
In 2022, MAC:
Awarded a record-high of $542,103 to cultural initiatives throughout Greenville County
Provided $30,000 to each of its general operation support partners
During the COVID-19 pandemic, MAC awarded $678,950 in relief funding to 33 arts organizations throughout Greenville County, including:

Each of these organizations also received an extra $10,000 in operating support through a generous gift from the Graham Foundation for the MAC grants program. MAC also provided $10,000 to the Greenville County Museum of Art (GCMA) to purchase works of art by Greenville-area artists for its permanent collection.
The Greenville Chamber launched an endowment campaign to support a new leadership program called Impact Greenville. Including business + nonprofit executives, Leadership Greenville alumni, and community leaders, Impact Greenville will be aimed at developing “innovative solutions to community challenges.” (Upstate Business Journal)

Development
New park alert. The Greenville County Historic + Natural Resources Trust has announced plans to redevelop the former Oakland Plantation site in Simpsonville into a 54-acre park. The County will purchase the property from YMCA Greenville for $1.2 million + has raised $250,000 to support the restoration of several historic 19th-century buildings. Prepare your taste buds for a Scout’s Doughnuts + Anonymous Burger collab at Cartwright Food Hall — located at 215 Trade St., Greer — on Thursday, Dec. 7. The theme is “out-of-this-world,” and, while there seems to be some mystery around what this collab will actually entail, we’re excited about this duo.

Earlier this week, we told you that an 8-t-tall inflatable Santa Claus went missing from The Children’s Museum of the Upstate. Although the original Santa has not been found, the community came together to offer its support. TCMU now has an inflatable Santa, an inflatable snowman, and a lot of Christmas spirit.
Travel
The Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) has experienced “monthly gains” in passengers this year, and it predicts these numbers will continue to grow. With an increase of ~15,000 to ~20,000 monthly passengers compared to 2022, traffic has grown steadily since COVID-19.(Greenville News)
