The Greenville Gingerbread Exhibit returns this holiday season
How many Greenville landmarks can you spot? | Photos by GVLtoday
The Greenville Gingerbread Exhibit is back for its second year, this time with new categories and even more sweetness.
City Editors Danielle and Stephanie here. We got a sneak peek and this year’s entries blew us away. This is a must-add to your holiday calendar.
Starting Tuesday, Dec. 5, stroll through the winter wonderland-themed lobby of the Residence Inn + Springhill Suites(200 E. Washington St.) and view festive gingerbread displays created by bakers, chefs, restaurants, businesses, plus — new this year — amateur home bakers.
What to expect
There are 21 entries from home bakers and 12 entries from professionals. You’ll find cookie replicas of Greenville landmarks and restaurants (think: The Liberty Bridge, Gather GVL, and The Commons with Unity Park) + traditional gingerbread houses, a picture-perfect barn, Barbie’s Dreamhouse, and even Taylor Swift’s Lover House (Christmas Version).
Cast a ballot for your favorite and it could win the “People’s Choice Award.” The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve and take home a $350 prize.
For the kids
New for 2023, The Children’s Gingerbread Coloring Contest adds a new way to get in on the fun. Pick up a coloring sheet in the lobby and enter your own gingerbread coloring masterpiece. Turn it in at the front desk until Christmas Eve. The winner will receive a $25 Target gift card.

Plus, The Children’s Museum of the Upstate will bring story time and crafts to the hotel lobby on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 3:30 p.m. Enjoy a reading of “The Plan for the Gingerbread House” + make your own cardboard gingerbread house.
Holiday treats
While you can’t munch on the displays, Oak and Honey will have a special holiday menu with a little something for everyone.
Sip on:
The Gingerbread Man (Think: An iced coffee cocktail with a hint of gingerbread)
Santa’s Little Helper (Think: Spiked hot chocolate)
Snowball Fight (Think: A sorbet mimosa)
Dine on:
The Holiday Pail (a bucket of sweet treats)
Herb-roasted prime rib au jus (with green beans and mashed potatoes)
Take a stroll through the exhibit from now until Christmas Eve.
