Conceptual designs along the proposed Runway Loop Trail — a 4.5-mile trail that would connect the entire Airport District’s perimeter — could include a skate park, a beer garden, and food venues. Plus, a few residential sites are approved for development including two multifamily developments + an apartment complex.

After hearing from the public, which asked for an affordable grocery store, the planning study brought forward the idea that the southwestern quadrant of Laurens Road and Pleasantburg Drive is a worth taking a look at as a potential site for a value grocer.
There are also conceptual plans for pedestrian-friendly sidewalks + traffic safety improvements.
If you need a refresh, the public priority projects are:
Improvements to Pleasantburg Drive, Laurens Road, and Haywood Road
District brand identity + way-finding signage
Realignments to Airport Road and Eisenhower + Exposition Drive
A community park and shared parking deck at the convention center
An airplane viewing platform along the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail
Safe neighborhood connectivity to the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail and district amenities

The upgrades were proposed by the Airport District Planning Study — a planning effort aimed at combining the goals of the city with the “logistical requirements” of the Greenville Airport Commission — and public input.
Greenville’s Planning Commission will hold a public hearing and make a recommendation at its October meeting. After that, the ideas move to City Council. Comment on the plan until Friday, Sept. 29.

The Internship Program at Christ Church Episcopal School (CCES) provides professional and service opportunities while encouraging career exploration among students.
Here’s how it works:
Students apply for a one- or two-week internship the summer before their senior year, with potential options for further development.
The full program, which begins fall of their junior year, includes writing a personal statement, going through the application and interview process, and exploring possible career options.
While interning, students are mentored by professionals invested in the students’ growth and development as they become the next generation of leaders in our community.
One participating student described her internship saying, “It’s one of the best things I did this summer. I met new people and learned a lot that will help and encourage me in my path to become an orthodontist.”
The experience was positive on both sides. “It was an honor and a privilege to have this young man in-clinic the past two weeks,” said one of the mentors. “We enjoyed his positive spirit, kindness to staff and clients, and his unwavering willingness to assist and learn.”

A variety of food options
Tickets for the festival — which takes place inside the stadium — range from $12-$60, but District 356 will also be full of vendors, and admission to that portion of the festival is free. A full list of vendors has not been announced yet, but will be closer to the market. We’ll make sure our friends at the North Pole keep you posted.
I’ll be heading to the preview Twelfth Night tonight and I am so excited to see a fresh take on one of my favorite Shakespeare comedies. I used to intern at the Warehouse and I worked all the preview nights, so it feels nice to be on the other side of things.
