Whether you’re buying, selling, or just want to keep an eye on the market, here are three fall real estate market predictions from the experts at Joan Herlong & Associates Sotheby’s International Realty:

1. Expect a return to normal market rhythms.
2. Because many buyers + sellers in the Greenville area are families, the busiest market times typically follow the start of the school year.

When you ask a Columbusite about their top 100 places to visit, you probably won’t find Ann Arbor, Michigan on that list — unless the Buckeyes are playing there. It’s the home of OSU’s biggest rival, but beyond the sports field is a city full of local restaurants, scenic views of nature, and great shopping. City Editor Mitch has spent plenty of time in the city — thanks to his grandpa originally being from the state — and is dishing out his favorite stops while he’s visiting.

Why go?
  • If you are a fan of Yellow Springs, Ohio, think of this as Michigan’s version on a slightly bigger scale. Prepare for a day of exploring different pockets with some more geared towards nature, and others more retail-based.
  • Ohio State men’s basketball will play in Ann Arbor on Sun., Feb. 5 at the Crisler Center. Or, make the 20 minute drive to Mt. Brighton Ski Resort during the winter for skiing and snowboarding.

Act like a local

  • Drink: Grab a local beer, glass of wine, or cocktail at the Detroit Filling Station which also serves bar bites, burgers, and wings.
  • Outdoor: Explore the hilly 146 acre Bird Hills Nature Area which is home to hiking trails, wildlife, and rare plant species.
  • Learn: Visit the University of Michigan’s Museum of Art to find local art created by students, or curated collections by the museum’s staff.
  • Watch: Sometimes after a long day of traveling, settling into a movie is the perfect way to end the day. We recommend basking in the glow of the marquee at the Michigan & State Theaters.
  • Explore: Visit the University of Michigan’s campus to find 100+ year old buildings, like the Michigan Union which was built in 1917.
