Gear up for Greer’s Independence Day celebration from 6 to 10:30 p.m. featuring a kids zone, food + beer, live music, a military tribute, a rib eating contest, and fireworks.
Head to Hartness for an evening of food trucks, kids activities, live music, and fireworks. The event will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. — register to attend for free.
Just ~20 minutes southeast of Greenville, the city of Fountain Inn will host a Fourth of July celebration from 6 p.m. until dark with live music, food trucks, a kids zone, and fireworks.

This fest — formerly known as Celebrate Simpsonville — will include fireworks + a performance by country music singer Josh Turner as part of his “Long Black Train” 20th Anniversary Tour” at the CCNB Amphitheatre at Heritage Park.
Head to Unity Park for an evening of live music, food trucks, and fireworks. Bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic dinner starting at 6 p.m. Fireworks will go off at 9:45 p.m.
Enjoy a pregame street party on District 356 as well as special military programming, then watch the Drive take the field in their stars and stripes jerseys to square off against the Rome Braves at 6:05 p.m. The evening will end with a fireworks display. Buy tickets.

Kyle here. I was a Greenville Tech Welding Program student for a day at the Brashier Campus in Simpsonville, where I got a first-hand look at the program facility and its robotic + virtual welding equipment.

What we tried:
We met with Academic Program Director Casey Ross and Lead Instructor Matt Bouwkamp to get up close with the program’s robotic and virtual welders — part of GTC’s welding program curriculum. The robotic welder’s movements are all programmed, often using 100+ lines of code to complete a welding application.
The Metropolitan Arts Council of Greenville awarded ~$29,000 in project-support grants to nine organizations and arts education programs + five artists. The funding is for the second quarter of this year, and recipients include The Children’s Museum of the Upstate, Rattlesnake Art Foundation, and Greenville Jewish Film Festival. (Greenville Journal)

Food vendor applications for this year’s Bank of America Fall for Greenville are open until Friday, June 23. The three-day festival will run from Friday, Oct. 13 through Sunday, Oct. 15 + will offer vendors the opportunity to present their flavors to 150,000+ attendees.
