“Baby BI-LO’s” future plans?

What does the “Baby BI-LO’s” new owner plan to do with the North Main development?

After sitting mostly vacant for a decade, a multi-use development could be coming soon to the “Baby BI-LO” site based on conceptual designs.

Sitting at the corner of West Park Avenue and North Main Street, the proposal for Park & Main shows two buildings — one four-story + one six-story.

According to the designs, the development features:
  • 16,000+ sqft of retail space
  • 300 residential units
  • 400 parking spaces (25 for retail)
  • A plaza + green space
  • A bike room
  • Other resident amenities to be announced
The former BI-LO at 505 N. Main St. — which was the smallest in the grocery store’s chain at the time — closed in 2013 after 20+ years in business.

In 2014, there was talk of a locally-owned neighborhood grocery store taking over the space, but it never happened.

Now, the shopping center is mostly vacant, with the No. 1 China restaurant and Unity Health on Main still in business.

They know how to make smart money moves, and so do you. That’s why you’ll love this.

Masterworks is a platform that helps you invest in multi-million dollar art by names like Basquiat and Picasso — yep, the very same artists in their collections — for a fraction of the cost.

Not convinced? Masterworks investors enjoyed three recent sales where they earned 10.4%, 13.9%, and 35.0% net annualized returns — AKA real numbers, real returns.*

A new festival to celebrate

Greenville is celebrating AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) Heritage Month with a new festival hosted by a new nonprofit.

APA Fest is Sunday, June 4, at 307 E. Washington St. (near Sum Bar, Swanson’s Warehouse, and Fireforge Crafted Beer — who are hosting the event) from 12-6 p.m. with a karaoke after-party planned until 9 p.m.

Featuring food, cultural performances, and family-friendly activities (read: face painting, arts and crafts, language tables, and more), the festival is hosted by Third Culture GVL — a new nonprofit aimed at empowering Greenville’s minorities through collaboration and celebration.

Save this schedule of events as you plan your weekend:
In between performances, indulge in Chinese, Hmong, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and other Asian cuisines from local restaurants, plus explore local vendors, businesses, and artists.

From the editor
I’m very excited to see the Martial Arts demos at the APA Fest. Fun fact: I earned my black belt in Taekwondo when I was in high school. You’ll also find me eating a bowl (or two) of noodles.
