On Friday, Feb. 24, Greenville Federal Credit Union made a big announcement: Greer High School will soon become home to the credit union’s second student-run high school branch.
This new branch will join The Branch at Greenville High, which opened in 2016, in bringing real-world financial literacy and education to students in the Greenville area. Greer High School students, faculty, and staff will have daily access to the financial services provided by the student-run branch, while student employees will gain hands-on experience and preparation for their future careers — plus course credit.
The Branch at Greer High is planned to open in August 2023, with construction set to take place over the summer. Seven years after the opening of The Branch at Greenville High, this new branch represents Greenville Federal Credit Union’s continued investment in our community. Read: A high school branch doesn’t bring the credit union monetary profit — it’s purely a way to give back. (Another way Greenville Federal Credit Union supports students in our community? Via annual scholarships.)
For an idea of what this new branch will look like, take a peek at our visit to The Branch at Greenville High. We’ll also be checking back in on the new student-run branch’s progress in the coming months, so stay tuned.*

The Greenville Zoo is preparing for Autumn the giraffe to give birth

Autumn, the Greenville Zoo’s Masai Giraffe, is pregnant (again) and is expected to give birth next month.
To prepare:
Autumn will be separated from her partner Miles, so he doesn’t interfere with the delivery.
Zoo keepers will fill two giraffe stalls with playground mulch and move Autumn inside — this provides a cushion for the baby when it drops and helps the calf stand up after birth.
Keepers and veterinarians will be on the lookout for pacing, increased tension, and fast movements — all signs Autumn is in labor, which takes several hours from start to birth.
Autumn has previously raised six calves. The most recent, Providence, became an internet sensation when she was born on the zoo’s livestream in Feb. 2021.
This time around will also be streamed, and you can watch the delivery live. Click the button below to bookmark the webcam andlet “giraffe watch 2023" commence.
