ICYMI, the City of Greenville City Council recently approved mobile food vendors (think: food trucks, trailers, and carts) on private property within the city limits.

As of today Wednesday, Feb. 1 the City is accepting applications for businesses looking to pop up and put out food within the city.

If you want to join the list of 20+ mobile food businesses serving Greenville, here’s what you need to know:

What do I need?

First thing’s first: You’ll need to submit an application for a business license packet, which includes your business license and your vehicle permit.

In addition to your completed application, you’ll be required to provide a background check, driving record, and SC DHEC permits. See the full list of required documents.

Pro tip: Scroll to pages 10-14 in the application to see mobile food vendor requirements and safety tips from organizations like SC DHEC and the Greenville City Fire Department.

When can I serve?

You’ll be able to feed new and returning customers between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily. If you need to stick around later, you can apply for permission to stay on site from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Where can I go?

Once you receive your license, you can operate on private property in the following city zones:
  • C-1: Neighborhood commercial district, like East North Street
  • C-2: Local commercial district, like Lewis Plaza on Augusta Road
  • C-3: Regional commercial district, like South Pleasantburg Drive

When it comes to Valentine’s Day, Hester General Store isn’t kidding around. 🐐

Enter: Goats with Totes.

If you’ve got it baaaaaad for your special someone, you can purchase a HGS heart-shaped conversation cake (vanilla or chocolate) and have it delivered to your Valentine Monday, Feb. 13-Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The best part? The cake and a custom tote bag will be delivered by Montgomery Sky Farm’s goats, Spriggy, Sprout, or maybe even days-old baby Sundae. Have your cake — snuggle some goats — and eat it, too.

Other locally-sourced gifts can be added to the candy goat gram, including:

Editor’s pick: When I tell you Hester General Store + Montgomery Sky Farm made my entire year with cake and goats, I’m not kidding. The snuggles were real, and the cake was drool-worthy.
