Time to break out the DVD player and get ready to play Bend it Like Beckham on repeat.

Now, keep channeling those fierce female vibes, because Greenville is getting a women’s soccer team in May 2022. ⚽

Launched by the Greenville Triumph Soccer Club + part of the United Soccer League’s (USL) newly formed W League, this currently unnamed team will “provide an elite pre-professional pathway for women looking to build their careers both on and off the pitch.”

Greenville’s team was 1 of 8 founding member teams selected nationwide to be part of the W League, but when play begins next year, the league will have ~30 clubs and will finish the inaugural season with playoffs and a league final in July 2022.

We will have more information on the team’s brand + staff (the head coach will likely be a woman with ties to the Upstate) in the coming months, but we do know the team will play at Legacy Early Collegethe home pitch for the Greenville Triumph — and will have equal facilities, space, and resources at a new, permanent stadium the Triumph is looking to secure for both teams.
