Our team recently spent a Friday afternoon at Discovery Island Waterpark in Simpsonville – for work, of course. After a long day of water slides and lazy river tubing, we felt adequately knowledgeable to share the ins + outs of spending the day at the waterpark.

🏊‍ The deets: The park has two waterslides, a lazy river, a kid’s splash play area, and the FlowRider (knee + bodyboarding). Prices: 48” and taller $12; 47” and under + seniors $8; 2-years-old and under enter free

🔓 The hours: Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. + Sundays from 1 – 5:30 p.m.

The pro tips:

☝If you’ve got more than 3 people, bring a large blanket to stake your claim on the grassy hill (+ leave the lounge chairs for those who want to lounge)

☝No outside food or beverages are allowed so we advise bringing an empty water bottle + using the water fountains to stay hydrated.

💭 The best part (according to Jordan): Thinking the FlowRider was super easy and that I could stand up on my knees but then actually just rode on the board for 5 seconds and fell off

💭 The best part (according to Kendall): The raft slide, full of twists and turns, and a refreshing splash at the end. For even more adventure, ask the lifeguard to send you down the slide backwards.

💭 The best part (according to Heather): The lazy river. The lifeguards make sure kids stay inside of the floats, so you never have to worry about a child swimming under you.

💭 The best part (according to our intern, Karlee): Hanging out, bonding and having fun with the GVLtoday team.
