A Brazilian soccer legend joined the Greenville Triumph’s ownership group

Here’s some goal-orious news. Former Brazilian soccer superstar Ronaldinho — widely considered one of the greatest soccer players of all timehas joined the Greenville Triumph club’s ownership group. The deal was official on Wednesday, Oct. 10 as he rang the bell at the New York Stock Exchange.

“His influence in the sport is unmatched,” said Greenville Triumph Chairman Joe Erwin. said, “His presence within our ownership group speaks volumes about the direction we are heading as a club.”

This comes just ahead of the 2026 World Cup. (Atlanta is the closest host city to Greenville.) Ronaldinho’s involvement is expected to add international recognition to the Triumph and Liberty teams + the Upstate soccer scene as a whole.

Ronaldinho won numerous awards throughout his career, including back-to-back FIFA World Player of the Year awards, and helped lead Brazil to a World Cup victory in 2002.
