Your guide to the 2024 election in Greenville, SC

Election Day is just around the corner, Tues., Nov. 8, and we’ve done the Googling so you don’t have to. To make this election as easy as possible, we’ve curated need-to-know information to get you ready to head to the polls, including who (and what) will be on your ballot.

What are we voting on?

In Greenville County, you’ll be voting for Governor, a US Senator and US House Representative, SC Superintendent of Education, State House representatives, county seats, two amendments, and other local offices.

The candidates

Governor
  • Henry McMaster (incumbent), Republican
  • Joe Cunningham, Democrat
  • Bruce Reeves, Libertarian
US Senate
  • Tim Scott (incumbent), Republican
  • Krystle Matthews, Democrat
US House SC District 3
  • Jeff Duncan (incumbent), Republican
US House SC District 4
  • William Timmons (incumbent), Republican
SC Superintendent of Education
  • Ellen Weaver, Republican
  • Lisa Ellis, Democrat
  • Patricia Mickel, Green Party
In addition to these state races, State House seats for local districts + County Council seats are up for grabs.

The Amendments
  • Amendment one would increase the state’s General Reserve Fund from 5% to 7% of state general fund revenue incrementally by one-half percent each year.
  • Amendment two would increase the Capital Reserve Fund from 2% to 3% of state general fund revenue.

  • $400,000. That’s how much Greenville County Council approved this week to expand Paris Mountain State Park. The funds came from the Historic and Natural Resource Trust budget + will help fund a 270-acre expansion. ⛰️ (Greenville News)

  • EPC Power, an inverter manufacturer, is investing $5 million in a new Greenville County facility (360 Old Laurens Rd., Ste. 800, Mauldin) creating 150 jobs. The new location, the company’s first East Coast operation, aims to be operational this month.
  • Maersk — one of the world’s largest shipping container companies — announced a new cargo flight from GSP to Seoul, South Korea, making GSP the first airport in SC to offer scheduled cargo service to Asia. ✈️
  • Paveway Express (10 Broadway St.), a local trucking company, is expanding its Greenville facility with an acre of new parking facilities + plans to add 10 new trucks next year. 🚚 (Upstate Business Journal)
