It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s your chance to witness aviation history right here in Greenville, just ahead of November, aka National Aviation Month.

Warbird Adventures, a vintage aircraft flight school, is landing at the community corridor of the Greenville Downtown Airport (21 Airport Rd. Ext.) for its aviation event on Sat., Oct. 29 + Sun., Oct. 30 from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Free to the public, this event showcases historic WWII planes up close and fly-ins from other historic + unique planes (like the S.C. Army National Guard Lakota and CH47 Chinook helicopters).

What types of planes will be on site?

You won’t see new fighter jets off the line from Greenville’s Lockheed Martin, but rather historic models like:

✈️ Curtiss P-40 Warhawk — the third most-produced American fighter in WWII

✈️ T-6 Texan — trained 100,000+ pilots in 34 different countries over 25 years

✈️ PBY-5 Catalina Watercraft Patrol Bomber — used for anti-submarine warfare, escorting convoys, search and rescue missions, and more

For a fee, you can take a ride in one of the planes. Pro tip: Make sure to keep an eye (and an ear) out for the Warbirds as they arrive at GMU head of the weekend Thurs., Oct. 27 + Fri., Oct. 28

City Editor Jessalin here. 👋 Happy National Adopt a Shelter Dog month. It’s been seven years since my rescued chihuahua’s gotcha day, and I thought I’d celebrate by sharing these local adoptable dogs in case you were already thinking about adding a new fur-baby to your family.
  • Petey Pablo, Greenville Humane Society | This 3 year old terrier-American Staffordshire mix is described as a couch potato who loves sunbathing, cuddling, and tasty treats, but “the occasional exercise wouldn’t hurt.”
  • Cornbread, Greenville County Animal Care | Cornbread the 6 year old retriever mix just needs a comfy couch to nap on + loves to meet new friends + dogs.
  • Pockets, Lucky Pup Rescue | Pockets may be 13, but you wouldn’t know it — he loves short walks, rolling in the grass under sunshine, car rides + naps.
