Director of Communications and Young Alumni Relations Christ Church Episcopal School is a co-ed, independent day school serving approximately 1,200 students in grades K5-12 in Greenville, South Carolina.
CCES seeks a Director of Communications and Young Alumni Relations to support alumni outreach, communications, and fundraising. This Director is responsible for the planning and implementation of programs and projects that strategically engage young alumni and young alumni families in strengthening programs and providing tangible benefits to alumni and current students.
As the CCES community continues to grow, this position is responsible for engaging our younger alumni through a combination of traditional and cutting-edge communications tools. This position will create content for social media, work closely with the editor of the alumni magazine to identify and share alumni stories, and will utilize a digital platform to facilitate alumni networking and peer connection. Through these and other types of communications, this position will support the goals for increased alumni engagement and alumni giving.
Serving as an ambassador, the Director is also charged with securing commitments from alumni to provide professional expertise and volunteer service; collaborating with colleagues in the administrative offices (including, but not limited to Admissions, Advancement, and Academic Affairs) and the school to create and maintain pathways for alumni and alumni family participation that advance the goals of CCES.
The Director of Communications and Young Alumni Relations reports to the Assistant Head for Advancement(AHA), works in tandem with the Director of Alumni and Alumni Parent Relations, and is a senior member of the Advancement team.
The ideal candidate for this position will have demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills throughout a minimum of four years of experience in alumni relations and external affairs. The candidate should have proven accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with volunteers and developing volunteer leadership, and working collaboratively and courteously with colleagues throughout the school, alumni, other constituents and the public. Bachelor’s degree with demonstrably strong writing, planning, and organizational skills preferred. Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge or a similar constituent database is a must.
Exceptional candidates will demonstrate a combination of the qualifications and skills described below:
• Plan, implement, and promote alumni programs that support the school’s strategic plan as well as the goals for philanthropic support
• Ensure accurate and complete alumni database records
• Establish, build, and maintain relationships with a wide range of alumni and alumni families, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally
• Establish, promote, and manage an alumni platform on Graduway
• Develops and implements a comprehensive marketing and communications plan for alumni programs and services
• Enhances and executes alumni social media strategy, including overseeing all current and future social media accounts (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn)
• Partner with the Upper School leadership to plan the growth and accessibility of career networking services for students and alumni
• Provides all content for Alumni publications and collateral material to include Highlights Magazine, bi-weekly Alumni Enewsletter, blog stories, and AL webpage
• Oversees updates to Alumni pages of the website
• Write and edits a wide range of material, including alumni-focused articles, scripts, speeches, communications with class reps, general editing and correspondence
• Collaborate closely with advancement colleagues in increasing support from alumni and alumni families; routinely identify and qualify alumni prospects for gifts; communicate development-related activities via written contact reports filed in Raiser’s Edge and periodic attendance at prospect management meetings – Annual giving goal of $75,000+ from main portfolio
• Steward an active portfolio of 50+ in annual giving, 100+ in Gravyty primary, and 50+ in Gravyty auxiliary. Goal of 10 Gravyty outreaches weekly. Create plans for additional giving for special projects, capital, and endowment in coordination with AHA • Serve as lead staff liaison with Alumni Association and AA Board
• Work in coordination with Annual Giving Director to create overall annual giving plan for AL and PAL. Serve as lead AL team member in guiding AL and PAL CavFund efforts creating specific participation and income targets annually. Create a strategic plan for growth to achieve 50%+ of more AL and PAL participation in 3 years.
• Facilitate alumni events including Young AL Holiday Gathering, AL Golf Gathering, assist with “On the Road gatherings
• Work closely with Internship Coordinator to identify potential internship opportunities with alumni
• Coordinate Class Agents and Reunions for graduating classes 1990 – forward
• Assist with graduation ceremonies
• Collaborate with Database Manager on AL and PAL obituary “Sad News” content and distribution for 1990 – forward
• Serve as support to all Advancement Department activities
